Abstract

Contains a petition from Benjamin Roberts to Lieutenant Governor William Gooch asking that a patent may be granted to him for four hundred acres of land on a fork of the Rappahannock River in Spotsylvania County surveyed for his father John Roberts in 1724. According to the petition, John Roberts devised the land to him when he was an infant, but no patent ever issued.
