Abstract

Papers, 1862-1864, including letters and a photograph of the Cowden family of Ohio. Included are letters from George and Robert Cowden to their family regarding troop movements, the purchase of government bonds, deserters in their units, food costs, and a train accident. The letters were written from Georgia; Camp Shiloh, Tennessee; and Washington, DC. Also includes a letter, 16 March 1862, written near Petersburg, Virginia, regarding the death of Dickson Cowden at City Point, Virginia.
