Abstract

Contains a petition of James Pittillo to the Governor in Council regarding a caveat & summons against Thomas & John Leath, heirs of John Ledbetter of Prince George County. According to the petition, Pittillo obtained a certificate from the Council Board on 15 June 1745 for a patent containing 400 acres of land. Col. Bolling, the surveyor, kept the rights & survey of the land in his possession for fifteen years. The Leaths refused the land and Bolling refused to give petitioner a copy of the survey or plat of the land.
