George the 2d by the grace of God of Great Britain France and Ireland King Defender of the faith &c To the Sheriff of Caroline County Greeting We command you that you summon John Martin Gent to appear before our Governor & Council at the Capitol in Wmsburgh on the Wednesday next after the Court of Oyer and Terminer to be held in December next to shew Cause if any he hath to allege Why four hundred Acres of land lying on the South side the South River in King Wm County now Caroline and certified by our Genl. Court to be lapsed from Henry Armistead Gent & petitioned for by the sd John, ought not be granted to George Woodroff who hath applyed for a Grant thereof by reason of his John Martin's neglecting to sue out a Patent for the same in due time And make you due return hereof to our Council office Witness our trusty & wel beloved Wm Gooch Esqr our Lieut Governor & Comdr in chief of our Colony & Dominion of Virginia at Wmsburgh thee XIVth day of June 1734 in the Eighth year of our Reign.
